Moyer House at Carroll Village Retirement Community

The 'Moyer House' Name

When looking for an appropriate name of our new building at Carroll Village, we were in total agreement when someone suggested, Moyer House. For the past 18 years, Bill and Joan Moyer have signified the best of voluntary service.  Bill has served as PHI’s board chair and vice chair, Presbyterian Homes’ board chair and vice chair, Presbyterian Senior Living Services board vice chair and treasurer, Presbyterian Senior Living Services board chair, vice chair and treasurer, Presbyterian Housing & Services Corp. board vice chair and treasurer, Continuing Care Rx board member, PHI’s finance committee member (chair), and Mission Support committee chair. It would be impossible to count the total hours of time and attention that Bill has given to Presbyterian Senior Living.  It is no exaggeration to state that his service to our organization alone is in the thousands of hours.

In addition to being a partner in Bill’s work with Presbyterian Senior Living, Joan has spent many hours serving on our Mission Support and Services Committees as well as working as a faithful volunteer at Sycamore Manor, our facility in Williamsport, PA. Joan continues her volunteer activities at Swaim Health Center as a resident of Green Ridge Village in Newville.

Both Bill and Joan have been very generous in the financial support of charitable care and special capital projects within the Presbyterian Senior Living network of care. They were involved in leading an effort to construct a new 2,000 square foot facility for the benefit of current and future model train enthusiasts at Green Ridge Village. Their sincere generosity to support our mission to seniors exceeds more than what we could have ever imagined.

Bill and Joan’s work is not limited to Presbyterian Senior Living. Other interests include Bucknell University and Davis and Elkins College (where Bill currently serves as a trustee). His work within the Presbyterian Church is also worthy of mention, serving as treasurer and clerk of session of his congregation and Carlisle Presbytery.

In my humble opinion, Bill and Joan are deserving recipients of this honor and we are proud to consider them part of the Presbyterian Senior Living family.

Sincerely,

Stephen Proctor
